the auto scenario in Delhi

hey guys,

Thank you for giving my previous post such a heartwarming welcome. So here is my 3rd post about my journey in Delhi.

Now day 2 was pretty simple and much less tiresome. so since I had 1 more day booked at the hotel and my house worries were over(apparently I thought so) I went out shopping. I always wanted to buy a proper full patlaya(Indian Haram) but you don't get them in Mumbai. So I decided to fulfill my wish and went out shopping but since I don't know Delhi I decided to hire a car and go out shopping and view some famous places in Delhi and have the local cuisines. Had a lot of fun and enjoyed Delhi for the 1st time.

Day 3:

Now I couldn't afford a private car on day 3 so I thought I could manage on my own via auto and rickshaw. I was wrong.
Now in Delhi unlike Mumbai you have 2 types of rickshaw one cycle rickshaw which is pulled by a person and the other which is called as rickshaw and the other is the mechanic one which is driven by a person which is called the auto.
So at first I got an auto and as a true Mumbaikar I checked for the meter and the auto guy bluntly told me that he wont ply via a meter and has a fixed rate, and as mumbaikar I protested and he challenged me to find a auto that would ply via a meter. Challenge accepted.
I asked another auto and even he refused to use the meter. and this went on for a while. I mean what is the propble with using the meterbwhen you have installed it?

5 autos later I realized that my ethics do not matter here. Ok now I'm stranded at Achana complex trying to find a meter complying auto and then comes this auto guy and stops in front of me and I ask him to take me to lajpat nagar and he looks at me and starts talking on his phone, he didn't even have the courtesy to answer me. Rude much

So after failing miserably I just got into any auto that I could manage, I sat in it payed him whatever he charged and reached my destination.

Sometimes I miss Mumbai a lot, I guess cause I was used to it and familiar with the method to deal people there, I was not scared to shout at someone who misbehaved or even put up a fight(yes I capable of kicking any guy in the nuts) but I'm quite scared here in Delhi. I think my mom is right the city will be more friendlier with time.
I hope.

P.S :- dear readers,
if you guys have any suggestions to my predicaments please do comment and help me out.

the search for a house in delhi

hey there,

Sorry for blogging after 3 days. I had a lot of interesting experience but was so exhausted by the time I came to the hotel that the bed seemed like a haven.
But I wanted to share a few of my experiences today. so here it is.

Day 1:-

Immediately after landing I went to the hotel, checked in, kept my suitcase and started my search for a house. Now this was a task. Let me tell you before that I am not alien to this kind of search, I lived in a rental house in Mumbai as well and was searching for 4 months to find the perfect house.
But in Delhi I had only 2 days.

So I went and met the brokers and started looking at 1BHK flats. My oh my was I traumatized. Now I'm not prejudiced to Delhi, there have been pretty scandalizing houses in Mumbai as well BUT the toilet bathroom and kitchen was inside the house.
I just couldn't imagine such houses, such houses in Mumbai only existed in chalws(as per my knowledge)

Ok now the kitchen was another topic. I saw a house that had proper rooms and bathroom and toilet was inside but the kitchen was on a plastic balcony with just a stoke kept with no gas whatsoever. Charge - Rs.20,000. Scandalized.

There were quite a few such houses. then out of nowhere I met a broker who had heard about my search and showed me his set of houses. His set of houses were a bit proper he showed me some in Lajpat nager IV and GK-1. the houses were better but it was either on the 5th floor(without lift) or out of budget.

so now its 5 pm and I was completely drained, but determined to find a house, I kinda had no choice.
so I decided to go on a search on my own a check up with the local dealers in the area I preferred.
And I found a broker who had wonderful set of flats some good but out of budget and then finally, he showed me a house, and I took a sigh of relief. it was a proper flat with everything inside and a proper kitchen(properly ventilated) Rent:- 18,000. the only minus point was that it was on the 3rd floor. but I don't mind climbing 3 floors if the house is proper. So this was it. I finalized it and will be moving in today.

I just realized something, People always come to Mumbai and say that its a task finding a house in Mumbai than anywhere in India because there a limited houses available comparatively. But I disagree with them, it is a task finding a house anywhere in the WORLD.

Delhi here I come

Hi guys,

This is the first time ever that I am writing a blog. I do have a lot of friends who are active bloggers but I never had anything interesting to say, so I have refrained from blogging.

I have been born and brought up in Mumbai and my ancestors have been in this beautiful city since 3 generation, and I am the 1st to move out Mumbai. The though was a bit scary but I was excited to try something new. The reason I am writing this blog is that I will be living in a completely alien city all by myself and I felt like sharing my experience with everyone.

Hoping for all interesting and positive experience, also hope you guys also have fun reading it.

This is it. I'm off to Delhi.
best of luck me
